The climb toward Motherhorn took a strange turn when the party was stopped by Mud Lump, a cyclops furious over what he thought was the theft of his queen bee, Pinella. Omar had to do the talking because he was the only one who could understand the giant, while Amador made it clear he was not giving Pinella up. What could have become a messy fight instead turned into one of the odder negotiations the group has managed, with calm emotions, a fake queen bee, and a great deal of improvisation buying them enough space to talk the whole thing down.
Mud Lump led them back to his ruined tower, where the real shape of the problem became clearer. He was not just angry about the bee; he was lonely, confused by what he was watching between Amador and Pinella, and increasingly more interested in understanding love than in taking revenge. The party drank his mushroom-honey mead, listened to his grievances, and somehow came away with a truce instead of a battle. By the end of the visit, Omar had more or less promised to help Mud Lump find love, and Vogon had quietly come away with a few valuables while the cyclops was distracted.
Once they left the tower behind, the session turned back toward the business of reaching Motherhorn. The party found the mine entrance they had been warned about, marked by unsettling stone figures, and learned that Gleam could not safely go in with them because of whatever rules bound shadowless travelers there. Inside, the tunnels proved dangerous in a different way. The steady mining rhythm itself seemed enchanted, pressing sleep into anyone who listened too long, and before long both June and Omar had collapsed and could not be properly roused.
That left the rest of the group dragging two sleeping party members deeper into hostile tunnels just as they ran into the briggan miners. The first contact set off alarm rather than trust, but the misunderstanding eased once Oliver arrived and heard enough of the party’s story to believe they were not working for Endelyn or her people. By the end of the session, Oliver and the briggan were leading the conscious members farther into the mine while June and Omar still slept, which made the group’s next step clear even if the situation had become much less convenient.
